Well, lainzine 5 is here! Sorta..
Lainzine 5 is a lot different from the last releases, and that's because of a problem that keeps happening in the work flow.
We seem to have plenty of articles and artwork submitted to the zine (in spite of attempts to mislead our authors), but very few people with the ability and willingness to typeset or do layout. When we do have those people, the chore of making a 60+ page PDF is too much effort for a single person on a volunteer project such as this - especially when we all have jobs and school to go to. In the production of this volume, for instance, we've had 3 false starts before a final release, moving between 4 different layout people who've had to start over from scratch. Loss of contact has also been a big issue, due to our layout person outright disappearing immediately before production was complete around August 2017. Given the tendency of typesetters to go completely dark on us, i should have expected this and take full responsibility as the publication organizer: we had no lack of ability or willpower, but working alone is its own kind of tiring that nobody should have to deal with.

In our darkest hour, a very nice girl with the handle President Reagan (presidentreagan@protonmail.com) has stepped forward to complete the layout.

So, instead of making the same mistake a fourth time and saying nothing until releasing a complete PDF, we've decided to layout each article and release them as individual files, contained in this folder. TXT versions of each file will also be contained, and its likely that a PDF will be completed when we're finished with all the individual files.
